What's this? I find I get to work on Monday morning and can barely recall what I did all weekend. I don't like that. So, I decided to jot down a few notes of life so I don't forget. It's not listed as "public" space on the site's navigation, but I'm sure it can be found.
Saturday, August 24, 2016 Fair bit of hanging around, we got a cornhole board for this weekend. Our friends are leaving the state :( and we're throwing a party. Helped clear out the church closet. Went to skate night with the kids. I am hanging out and working on a game for work. Friday, August 23, 2016 After work, I had time to fiddle with my new 3D printer. Yay! We watched Captain America and hung out.
Weekend, August 27/28, 2016 Another weekend that went by in a total blur. I've been working VERY long hours and also a few over the weekend. When work keeps you from living your own life, it's not a good thing. No, no, no.
We got out and had a little fun. Went skating with the kids. Took Ethan to a driving class (he did well). Less fun, but useful, we helped our friends getting their house ready to sell. Installing sinks, in my case.
Weekend, August 20/21, 2016 I think I may finally be caught up on client work. Huzzah! Working every evening and weekend and I've finally got it. Also got the kids to watch Monty Python: The Holy Grail and went for a 5-mile bike ride with my dear wife. We went on a shopping trip / drive on Saturday and took the kids to Gunther Toody's (a 50's-style diner) and they had a nice time. KJ really loved it.
Weekend, August 13/14, 2016 I finally got some time to myself, mainly because I've made progress on some client projects and just ignored others. I can't keep working every day and evening! I got to go play tennis with my girls, worked on my latest video game - which I've missed doing - and generally chilled out a bit. FINALLY. Weekend, August 6/7, 2016 The very fact that there are no entries this week is WHY I'm doing this page. It's been a blur of working on design projects in the evening after doing them all day. Got to see friends a couple times this week at least. Weekend, weekend. MORE client projects (this is becoming a rut) and some time to finally chill out with the fam. We took the kids to a party and we grown-ups (plus eldest child) went to see Star Trek: Beyond. It was so-so. What a shame! Sunday at church then a party with our friends whose eldest is off to college soon. MORE client work interrupted by my first visit to the pool since we moved in. Spent some time in the evening changing outlets. One of them had arced so much it scorched the metal faceplate. That sent me scurrying to change more. Work work work. Busy busy. I used to be that guy who wrote books in his free time.
Sunday, July 31, 2016 Introduced a new song I wrote at church today - everyone seemed to dig it. Lunch with the Chambers family, projects around the house. Now, off to some client work.
Saturday, July 30, 2016 Finally had a nice, chill day. Started out changing a difficult outlet and fixing a sliding door. Moved on to building a wooden disk for my desk chair to sit on, but spent the rest of the day playing games, finishing Stranger Things and then running into town with my dear. At least there was coffee in it for me, so that was fine.
Friday, July 29, 2016 I think I'm finally out of the woods at work. Phew! More to come, but the crush is passing. I got to chill out watching the super-creepy Stranger Things on Netflix and playing some Ratchet and Clank.
Thursday, July 28, 2016 Craziness at work continues with me working late, getting home and trying to fix something (like the failed sliding door of yesterday) and then crashing. At least I got to do dinner with my honey tonight...followed by shopping for home improvements and repair. Sliding doors don't fix themselves, you know.
Tuesday, July 26, 2016 Crazy busy day followed by a fairly uneventful evening, though I did fill the house with smoke in an attempt to cook a single piece of bacon. I, of course, blame the bacon.
Monday, July 25, 2016 So absurdly busy all day I could hardly think. Came home fried, but played a board game with the family and watched some dumb YouTube videos we all laughed at. (Bad Lip Reading). I wrote 3 mini-stories for Twitter, so I accomplished something more than a hot bath.
Sunday, July 24, 2016 Church this morning - I'm probably the de facto music leader now and I played throughout the service as Bill shared about the future of the church. Lunch, garage cleanup for my work area to be more awesome. Tennis lessons with Kate. My dear wife and Timmy boy aren't feeling well and are off to the Dr. I think I'll watch a show.
Saturday, July 23, 2016 Spent time out and about with Katie. I was getting my oil changed, so we walked to the coffee shop and regaled the patrons with our guitar playing and singing. Went chair shopping with Elizabeth - not much luck. At least I had good luck improving our networking at home.
Friday, July 22, 2016 Very busy day at work and got to visit the Arrow offices where I saw their video studio. They have, I believe, four 3D printers. We hosted a party for about 20 youths in the evening. Rowdy, loud, fun. I hid out in my room and worked on a video game idea.
Thursday, July 21, 2016 I got to show off my game "Cloudhead" to the entire office today and I was a nervous wreck. I don't get stage fright, but that did it! The evening was fairly quiet and I was exhausted. At least we got to go see the new Lone Tree library - very nice!
Wednesday, July 20, 2016 Exciting day out with the Pax8 Marketing group, plus a few others. We went to a Rockies game and they lost - badly. They are not a good team this year. It was roasting hot and I wore long pants because I don't like to run around in short if I can avoid it. Ate "rocky mountain oysters." Yeah. That happened. They were bland, a little between squishy and chewy, not good, and not bad. I can't believe I did that. BTW, Pigtrain coffee down at Union Station is excellent.
Tuesday, July 19, 2016 Super crazy busy at work again today. As soon as I got home, I had to head out and wrap things up at our old house, but at least it's done and out of our hair. I finally got to try out our giant bathtub. Any bigger and it might as well be a hot tub. Most excellent. Did some writing, including more of my Teeny Tiny Twitter stories.
Monday, July 18, 2016 Got home before a storm started and spent a few minutes with my dear, standing in the garage, looking at the lightning. Played a vid-game for a few, which was great because I haven't gotten to do that in forever. Went out for BOGO sushi - tasty! Did a little last-minute client work. Still have an hour left to myself, so here I am, starting this journal.
Weekend, July 15, 2016 Pokemon Go! just came out and we walked around downtown Parker. We've just moved into our new house so it's easy to go downtown. It was surreal. There were literally hundreds of people walking around in the evening, all playing the same game on their phones. It was a phenomenon.
Spent time installing new power outlets on Saturday. Had a church meeting on Sunday - my good friend and pastor is moving his family out of state. It was rough. I don't want to belabor it. That kind of thing is never much fun, but most people tried to stay positive, even though they were upset, even in tears. Me too. We went to a birthday party at their house later and got to hang out for a while. Though it ended with me getting a firework ember in my eye, it was a nice evening after a difficult morning.
